The River Gipping Trust have now received all the timber components needed to complete the new footbridge over
the river Gipping just above Baylham. The wooden platform has been received in a kit of parts ready for Trust
volunteers to install, with an anticipated bridge opening date this October. When the footbridge opens it will not be
wheelchair friendly, but improvement work along the path is ongoing and the Trust’s fund raising continues in order
to make it a wheelchair friendly accessible to all path in the future.
Trust volunteers are working hard on restoring the 230 year old brick bridge abutments. One abutment is complete,
but there is still much work need on the other one before we can start to install the footbridge across the river.
Scaffolding is installed between the abutments to assist with abutment restoration and to get the 10.5m long by
475mm deep wooden beams across
